The Union Cabinet today cleared the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2016 proposing a ban on surrogacy except for proven infertility. It also proposes to prohibit any woman to surrogate more than once in her lifetime. The Bill comes as India has emerged as a surrogacy hub for couples, said Union Minister Sushma Swaraj. She further criticised celebrities for opting for surrogacy.
