Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the banks and corporates to encourage their employees to give up the LPG subsidy. The Prime Minister stated that if one crore people give up their subsidy an equal number of poor families would benefit from this clean energy source.
Speaking at the function for 80th anniversary of the Reserve Bank, he said that already one lakh people have joined this initiative.
The main aim of this initiative is to provide LPG cylinders, a clean source of energy to poor households, which use firewood for cooking.
