Suppandi and Shikari Shambu now on Youtube
The Indian-comic superstars, Suppandi and Shikari Shambu are transitioning to the online world. Webisodes of the famous Tinkle magazine characters can now be viewed on YouTube.
It is India’s first digital cartoon channel with entirely original content and not adapted from the books. “We thought that the online medium would work better for these stories,” says Manas Mohan, CEO Publishing, Amar Chitra Katha.
The YouTube channel will release weekly episodesof 3-4 minutes each. There are eighteen webisodes already available to view online. The ‘Suppandi Hijacked’ episode has logged one lakh hits and the ‘Shambu: Monkey Menace’ has received over 70,000 views.
“We started posting the episodes in July in beta mode. Tinkle has loyal followers, and we wanted to test the content before going public. So, we posted eight videos initially and incorporated changes in the ones we uploaded later, depending on the feedback we received,” Mohan said.
