Slum Premier Cricket League from Aug 8
Opening a door of opportunity for slum children, Hyderabad's Daniels Cricket Academy is going to organise a week-long Slum Premier Cricket League from August 8. During the league, slum children will not only get an opportunity to explore the sport, but also get an opportunity to play a professional match, showcase their talent and fulfill their dreams, according to a press release.
The stage for the first-ever Slum Dwellers Cricket Extravaganza is all set to kickstart on August 8 at a cricket ground in Uppal. The SPCL has already roped in 16 teams include: Puranapul Nawabs, Kanchanbagh Warriors, Charminar Titans, Chanchalguda Sultans, Vidyanagar Gold, Uppal Rockets, Kishanbagh Sardars, Gadi Kotta Racers, Banjaragadd Diamonds, Habshiguda Wizards, Boduppal Jaguars, Manikeshwar Nagar Lions, Amberpet Panthers, Nacharam Angels, Maheshwaram Kings and Veerappa Gadd Thunders.
Daniels Cricket Academy will train slum dwellers and help participate in the professional contests, said Daniel Kanaparthi in a press note. “We have already procured uniforms, shoes and cricket kits,” Daniel added. He said that each team plays three matches. We would like to make it an annual affair. We will plan it much bigger next time, Daniel said.
