Nike, the world’s most valuable and popular sports band, had originally started as a shoe distributor. It was then called Blue Ribbon Sports in January 1964. Nike sold shoes made by the Japanese brand, Asics. The shoes were knows as Tiger Shoes. Nike started production in 1971 and it was founded by track and field coach Bill Bowerman and his student Paul Knight, who was from University of Oregon and a track athlete.

Currently, Nike is a multinational corporation which designs, develops and manufactures sports footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories and services. It is also engaged in marketing and sales of its products. It has more than 44,000 employees and the brand alone is valued at $19 billion.
