In Orlando, Florida a dark day descended as 49 people were killed and further many were deeply wounded and injured in a mass shooting at a club called Pulse by a gunman named Omar Mateen.

It has already been known to all of us that Omar Mateen, 29 was a very drunk homophobe and visited the gay club Pulse frequently. During the first gun shots to the three hour blockade, Omar called 911 to pledge his allegiance to ISIS. Apparently all the ISIS shooters are trained to pledge Bayat before they die. It seems like Omar was doing the same. While, ISIS did proudly claim the responsibility for the attack, the investigating agencies however have not found any such evidence that connects this attacker to ISIS.

The shocking part

The very surprising and negligent part in this shooting is this that, Omar Mateen had been investigated, questioned and come under the eyes of FBI not once but twice for differing reasons. First during 2013, for comments about terrorist ties and for another time during 2014, for being a possible connection to American suicide bomber Moner Abu Salha in Syria.

However in both the cases FBI seemed to have reached a dead end as there was nothing to follow up to therefore both cases stood closed.  Not only this but the fact that a person who had been uder the pry of FBI eyes could get away with buying a rifle/ weapon for destruction and go undetected by FBI till the shooting clearly showed the negligence.

The details to be revealed

The FBI is due to release call details that took place between the shooter and the police. The call transcript would contain all the information. Though it has decided to delete all the references to ISIS.  This was being done as to avoid revictimizing those who went through this horror.
