Over 300 traffic cops from the city donned the role of GHMC staff and cleared over 200 water logged points including 121 critical points identified by the corporation on Sunday after unexpected heavy rain lashed the city. The selfless act stopped the city from facing traffic chaos on almost all important stretches. Surprisingly, officials and staff of GHMC, which claims to have set up round-the-clock disaster management teams in all the five zones of the corporation, were nowhere to be seen to clear the water logged points.
GHMC
Traffic personnel from the rank of head constable to home guards were seen clearing the flood water escaping points at many places in Malakpet, Humayunnagar, Erragadda, Ameerpet, Lakdikapul, Puranapul, Moosarambagh, Mozamjahi Market, Nampally, Mallepally and Asifnagar areas. "Great job by City traffic police. At the same time, it is the failure of GHMC. Where are the municipal workers and what are they doing?” asked one Subba Rao Thanakalla on the official Facebook page of Hyderabad Traffic Police.
