10 died and several temples submerged in MP due to heavy rains
Several temples in Ujjain are being inundated due to heavy rains since Saturday which led to floods in many parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Ten people have died so far due to the heavy rainfall in western Madhya Pradesh. Over 6,000 people have been evacuated so far from areas affected by flash floods now taking shelter in 10 relief camps set up in the district.
Leading to rise in the water level of Shipra and Gambhir rivers, at least 310 mm of rain was observed in Ujjain.
According to the officials of flood control department, many temples on the banks of the Shipra were submerged in water up to the dome.
A large number of families in Ujjain were evacuated and normal life was also affected in State Capital Bhopal due to the incessant downpour. Indore also recorded 128 mm of rain.
Rajgarh district has also been badly hit by the rain. District Collector Anand Kumar Sharma said on Sunday that 41 people trapped in a hostel were rescued late on Saturday.
