Speaking at the 188th birth anniversary celebrations of famous social reformer, Jyotiba Phule, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said that it was Phule who fought for the social upliftment of the dalits.

He stated that Phule fought vociferously for education of the dalits, in an era when those people were socially ostracised.

The celebration programmes were held at Amberpet.
