'Govt responsible for Mid Manair breaches'
Congress delegation led by Telangana State Pradesh Congress Committee (TSPCC) President Uttam Kumar Reddy visited the site of breached Mid Manair Dam earthen bund and inspected the damages to the project.
Uttam Kumar Reddy held the TRS government and the Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao responsible the breaches. He alleged that the government is prepared to pay huge amounts to the contractors but refused to pay legitimate compensation to the oustees. He said that the Congress Party will stand by the farmers and fight till they get justice.
The Congress leaders also interacted with the land oustees of the project on Wednesday. Later speaking to media, Uttam Kumar Reddy held the TRS government and the Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao responsible the breaches. He alleged that the government is prepared to pay huge amounts to the contractors but refused to pay legitimate compensation to the oustees. He said that the Congress Party will stand by the farmers and fight till they get justice.
InMid Manair incident the failure of the officials and contractors has been clearly established, he said and alleged that government with its actions proved it is anti farmer and pro contractors. He also took a dig at the government saying that the Chief Minister has gone back on his promise to provide double bed room houses to the project oustees.
Opposition leader in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir ridiculed the government claims in irrigation sector and said that in the last two and half years the TRS government has not done anything to improve irrigation facilities. Earlier in the day the TPCC leaders, including Opposition leader in the State Assembly K. Jana Reddy, PCC former president Ponnala Laxmaiah, CLP deputy leader K. Jeevan Reddy, former minister D. Sridhar Babu, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, Karimnagar DCC chief K. Mrutyumjayam and others visited Sripada Ellampally project.
Speaking at Ellampally the leaders have stated that the credit of present ‘Jalakala’ at Sripada Ellampally project goes to previous Congress government and reminded the former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone to the project. They claimed that the earlier Congress government led by Kiran Kumar Reddy completed 90 percent of works of Ellampally project.
They alleged that the TRS government was adopting delaying tactics in inaugurating Ellampally project thinking that the Congress party may get the credit. The Congress leaders demanded the government to complete pump houses connectivity works still pending to provide irrigation facility to 220 acres ayacut as contemplated in the project report.
