Five Engineering students, who went for a swim in the Dharmasagar reservoir in Warangal district, drowned on Saturday. All the bodies have been retrieved.

The tragedy occurred when a group of Vagdevi Engineering College students, studying third year CSC, went for a swim in the reservoir.

According to eye-witnesses and fellow students, when one of the students accidentally fell into the river, the other students who tried to save him also fell into the river and drowned.

The deceased were identified as P Sravya Reddy (19), Pollineni Vinutna (18), Karne Siva Sai (19), Polineni Siva Sai Krishna (20) and Ramya Pratyusha. The police deployed expert swimmers to fish out the bodies.

It is learnt that all the five fell into the lake while trying to save Ramya Pratyusha from falling into the water.
