State to go the green way
The Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari along with public representatives and officials will launch Haritha Haram Vaarostavaalu in Greater Warangal Municipal Area on Friday at 03:00pm. Sapling plantation will be done along Hunter road from Adalat to Thimmampet Cross Road.

The District Administration has made all arrangements for the mass sapling plantation. The State government’s flagship programme aims to supply of 33,000 saplings in every village. The programme will be launched on Friday and will go on till July 10.
As against the norms of 33% forest in the district, there is only 24.85% of green cover in Warangal district. To bridge this gap, the district administration plans to plant the saplings on 27,235 acres across the district. As part of the plan, it was decided to grow 4.20 Crores of plants every year.Speaking to Metro News, Warangal District Collector Vakati Karuna said that the government has been planting saplings in 453 Centres in collaboration with various agencies.
Under the forest department, a total of 2.47 lakhs of plants are being raised by the Social Forest Division and also, total of 136.50 Lakhs of trees are raised. I.T.D.A. Department is has contributed 5 lakh saplings, D.W.M.A. 12 lakh, Silk Board 5 lakh, Warangal Municipal Corporation 4 lakh, and Forest Development Corporation 7 lakh for the programme.
The District Collector directed the sarpanchs to constitute at village, mandal and district levels to monitor the implementation of the programme and involve people on a large scale. The district administration plans to plant saplings at agricultural fields, unused lands, on either side of the roads, at schools, government offices, places of worship and on lands belonging to private organisations. The saplings would be a mix of medicinal, fruits bearing and shade giving trees that help in increase the green-cover.
