Periscope the live streaming app by Twitter was launched on Thursday for iPhone.

The app is to compete with the latest social media sensation Meerkat. The rise of Meerkat led Twitter users to post video broadcasts all over the night.

Periscope is an additional feature that Twitter is providing to its users that enables the popular live video streaming phenomenon. As Meerkat does not intergrate to Twitter, it helps Periscope to grow rapidly.

The phone cameras being the basic premise of Periscope, help in broadcasting of live videos and shows the number of people watching the video.

A little rising heart animation indicates any new person joining to view the broadcasting. The viewers can click on the little rising heart to rate the broadcast and they can do as many clicks as they like to help the video be rated as the most loved one.

Twitter is most popular for quick sharing, when ever a new story appears it first appears on Twitter. So its not so hard to imagine that whoever news or broadcast launches happen, they will now easily appear on Twitter with Periscope or Meerkat, which are routes to a new culture of sharing news.

For example, if a disaster is occurring there would be live broadcast or if there is a new launch a broadcast of the news will appear on twitter with Meerkat or Periscope.

For now Meerkat is extremely popular for video-streaming, but periscope with its features may soon supercede it.
