Lenovo Tech World event in Beijing saw the launch of a new media streaming device named Lenovo Cast. It will be available worldwide starting August, priced at $49.

Having a diameter of 7 cm, Lenovo cast weighs 50 grams making it a pocket sized device.

Lenovo Cast ensures seamless streaming with its 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual frequency WiFi and its able to transfer content like movies, videos and games up to 20 meters, wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet that can penetrate up to two walls, offering a resolution of 1080p.

It offers compatibility with almost any DLNA and Miracast enabled device.

The device is touted to be a competitor to Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Lenovo Cast is described by Lenovo website as working in three simple steps: “First, plug Lenovo Cast into any large screen device’s HDMI port. Then link Lenovo Cast to the device’s signal. Then play media from a DLNA or Miracast-enabled tablet or smartphone”.

The Lenovo Cast has a bracket for supporting it on the back of TV.
