Do you know the most active participators on Twitter? Journalists are on the top, as per a report which is verified by Triggertrap CEO Haje Jan Kamps.

Though the journalists play a significant role according to the Twitter verification, they have a very few followers, on an average (140,000), compared to the musicians, where the users are more than 1.2 million on average and acting on average of more than 400,000.

The report, based on 15,000 verified Twitter accounts, shows that journalists nearly form a quarter (24.6 percent) of the service’s authenticated users. The next category after this is the, sports teams and athletes (17.9 percent), followed by the actors and entertainers (13.6 percent), Britain-based start-up Triggertrap said.

Journalists and new organisations more frequently tweet about the content they produce, CEO of Triggertrap informed.

"Verified journalists follow more users on average compared to other verified groups in the Twitterverse," the report stated.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey recently celebrated the ninth birthday of the social network by thanking the reporters and the editors who made a good team work by helping to turn the micro-blogging site from 140-character to a river of news and commentary.

"After the tech early-adopters, journalists were the next to take to Twitter. They used it as a source, to break news, and to link their work," he reported.
