Postal system gets digital touch

Union Telecom Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad stated that the postal system was being developed based on the demarcations of digital India and with this new change in system none of the employee will lose his job.
"I can assure that the postal department will take care of postal officials and they would not lose their jobs,” said Prasad.
The Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision of developing postal system on the lines of ‘digital India.’
He said that it is a pleasure that post offices has now started electronic transactions. The post office men and officials should adopt the latest technology.
"Post-men working in rural areas would be provided modern hand-held devices and post offices would be computerised," the minister said.
There are 1.55 lakh post offices in India where 1.39 laks are located in rural areas.
