Airtel's 4G footprint to reach Hyderabad

Bharti Airtel has started a trial of its 4G service in Chennai from May 14 and is soon going to release it in Hyderabad and Mumbai by the end of this month.

"Airtel will start trial of 4G services in Chennai from May 14 in 1800MHz band. It has sent out invite to some bloggers to experience its services," according to a source.

"The company's network to launch FDD LTE (4G) in Hyderabad is also ready. The trials for the same are expected to start this month. In Mumbai, the company will provide TDD LTE (4G) in the 2300MHz band. The trial for Mumbai 4G service is also planned for this month," the source said.

As of now Bharti Airtel is providing its 4G services in 19 cities across the country, some of the cities are Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.

In January, the firm has announced that it is planning to provide its 4G services in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab by 2015 and Karnataka and Rajasthan by end of April 2016.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Airtel, stated in March that the company plans to increase the 4G installations in 20,000 more sites excluding the 20,000 installed sites.
