Leading smart phone maker of China, Xiaomi has been overtaken by Apple in its bid to become the largest smart phone vendor, according to reports related to Chinese Market revealed on Monday.

Apple has acquired 14.7 per cent of the market share in the first quarter of 2015 where Xiaomi had 13.7 per cent share, according to market researcher International Data Corporation.

Both the firms were followed by Huawei, Samsung and Lenovo, Xiaomi reported citing the data.

The top list of the China’s smart phone market, which is one of the world’s largest, was occupied by four different companies in the last five quarters. Samsung and Lenovo also topped the list.

In the period from Jan-Mar, 57.8 of the market share belonged to Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung and Lenovo.
According to the data, Samsung and Lenovo have suffered declines and on the other hand Apple, Xiaomi and Huawei saw an increase in their shipments.

In total shipment, there are 98.8 million smart phones, 4.3 per cent less than the first quarter of 2014. It was the first drop that occurred in over six years marking the saturation point after numerous quarters of over 20 percent growth.

Wang Jiping, director of IDC's China branch, said that the market has entered an adjustment in the first quarter as the companies’ inventories piled up because of the intense competition.
