Modi's salute to India's scientists

Prime Minister Software Advice Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the efforts of Indian scientists and political leadership for the success of Pokhran nuclear tests on May 11, 1998, observed as the National Technology Day.

"We salute efforts of our scientists and political leadership behind the success of Pokhran Tests on
this day in 1998," Modi said, in a message on Twitter.

Modi stated that it was made possible due to the "stellar work of our scientists. They were a victory of technology".

May 11 is remembered as a prominent date in India’s history, as India in on this date in 1998 conducted nuclear tests in Pokhran, Rajsthan.

The entire nation rejoiced, when the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced the success of the tests, which was again conducted on May 13. May 11 is being observed as the National Technology Day since 1999 to commemorate the event.

"Atal ji's government showed tremendous courage. It demonstrated the importance of strong leadership," Modi said.

In a separate message prime minister said that the government is taking all efforts to mark itself in the technological front as it has become a part of our lives today. "We are working towards fulfilling our dream towards a Digital India," he said.

In addition Modi provided special greetings to all the scientists and technical professional who possess passion towards technology quest and make innovations that make India proud. "Technology had the power to transform the lives of the people,” he asserted.
