Goodness is never outdated
Aditya Das Nath IAS officer: If we want our nation to produce a promising crop of individuals, we first need to plough the monotonous terrain of our minds, then sow seeds of purity and weed out negative thoughts. Only then we as individuals or a nation will be successful in being swachh from inside and out.
"Everything that is done in the world is done by hope. "
- Martin Luther
We as human beings have a tendency to be selfish. Being selfish is good, as long as you include some people in your circle of 'self'. Spread happiness and love to the people around you; your parents, family, neighbours and friends, only then will you be genuine in trying to help society. When we are indifferent to the pain and suffering of our neighbour, how can we do any service to society?
There should be a purity of purpose. Every action of ours should be backed by a powerful motive. This motive should be the driving force behind everything we do. When the purpose is pure, the effort and result will also be pure.
Goodness is never outdated or old fashioned. It is that everlasting elixir that keeps the human soul swachh at all times and drives him or her towards actions which benefit society for a greater good. The life of a public servant is neither black nor white. It has tones of grey speckled with emotions of human expectations. Our purpose is to serve, judiciously, sensibly, with a lot of compassion and care, but within our own area of expertise. We work within the rules and have to keep in mind that every rule has a human factor to challenge it. Pressure from the government and people are often a big challenge for us.
The only solution to our day-to-day administrative activities is to have a very clear mind. We have to be full of positivity and strive to keep all strata of society satisfied. Swachh Soch, Swachh Bol is a concept that has to be imbibed at every level of society, irrespective of age or gender. Promoting such concepts and spreading good intention behind such ideas itself is swachh soch in its own right.
