Wuhan: India's Saina Nehwal lost her women's singles quarterfinal to Chinese Taipei's Tzu Ying Tai in three tough games at the $200,000 Badminton Asia Championship here on Friday.
World No. 1 Saina could not get across fifth seed Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei, going down 21-16 13-21 18-21 in a 55-minute women's singles match.
This is Tzu's third successive victory over Saina.
Going into the match with a 1-1 record, PV Sindhu did not waste any time as she zoomed to 8-1 lead, a gap which Li could not bridge as the Indian conjured up hopes of a win by pocketing the opening game.
Hyderabad based PV Sindhu, who is the only Indian left in the competition, will be playing her quarterfinal later in the day against top seed Li Xuerui of China.
