Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal touched a new peak in the Badminton world federation ranking after pushing China's reigning Olympic champion Li Xuerui to the third position in the list issued on Thursday.

The Hyderabadi became world number one for the first time exactly a fortnight ago. She plunged to the second position following her semifinal finish, but she once again overtook China's Li Xuerui to retake the top spot.

The 25-year-old skipped the Singapore Open Super Series last week but gained in the rankings after Xuerui also pulled out from the tournament, leading to loss of two positions in the women’s singles list.

On the other hand, P V Sindhu, who has been out of action due to injury, dropped three places to No.12 this week, after slipping three spots.

K Srikanth retained the fourth spot in the men's rankings, while P Kashyap, who is nursing a toe injury, rose up to 14th owing to his semifinal finish in the Singapore Open.

H S Prannoy, who ended as a quarter-finalist in Singapore, slid one spot to be 15th in the rankings.
