India loses to NZ in Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey

Indian hockey team faced their first defeat in the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament on Monday. It was New Zealand skipper Simon Child and Andy Hayward who scored goal for the side while India could manage only one goal and eventually ended on the losing side.

Both the teams failed to utilize the penalty corners in the first quarter. However, in the 38th minute, New Zealand posted their first goal.  Within four minutes, India was back as Akashdeep leveled the scores with a goal.

Though in the last quarter, India kept attacking the New Zealand’s post but could not capitalize to score a goal. In the 55th minute, New Zealand got a penalty corner and Andy Hayward ensured a victory to his side.

India played their first match against Korea which resulted in a draw.
