Gujarat’s BJP government, led by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, introduced the controversial Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Bill 2015 in the legislative assembly on Tuesday. The bill was earlier returned by the President thrice to the state government for reconsideration.

The bill is a modified version of 2003’s original Gujarat Control of Organized Crime (GUJCOC) Bill, which was not cleared by the UPA and NDA government since a long time.

As former Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has now become the Prime Minister with full majority, the Gujarat government is hoping for clearance of the bill by the President shortly.
