Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa took charge of her office on Sunday.

Jayalalithaa reached the Secretariat at around 3 pm and received a warm welcome from the employees. Aiming to connect on a deeper level with her makkal (subjects), Amma is expected to launch another chain of Amma Unavagam - the low-cost eateries, which are already popular in the state, through video-conferencing.  She will also be inaugurating a police headquarters and brand new vehicles for various departments of the state government.

Meanwhile, Jaya has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union Finance minister Arun Jaitley and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for their wishes on her assuming office again.

An official release informed that she thanked Modi and Jaitley for their wishes stating, “I thank you for your congratulations and good wishes on my being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the fifth time. I convey my best wishes to you.”

The release further stated that Naidu had also called Jayalalithaa over phone to congratulate her and she thanked him for his gesture.
