Indian Railways will be conducting e-auction for the first time for redevelopment of stations on public-private partnership (PPP) basis.

Railways is working on a policy for e-auctioning contracts for around 100 railway stations in order to put an end to the bureaucratic hurdles faced by private firms while undertaking PPP projects, according to railways sources.

According to the sources, private companies will be able to apply their bids online, following which a technical committee will study and approve the bids. He stated that private players entrusted with converting the railway stations into world-class transit facilities will be given a specified place within the station premises and around it to be exploited commercially.
