The Supreme Court on Thursday termed former CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha’s meetings with various accused at his residence while investigating the coalgate and 2G scams as ‘inappropriate.’

Based on the complaints filed by lawyer Prashant Bhushan and an NGO, Common Cause, the Supreme Court made these statements. Though Sinha consistently rejected the wrongdoing but the NGO produced the visitors diary at Sinha’s residence which had regular visits by those accused in the cases.

The Supreme Court had removed Sinha from the investigation of 2G spectrum case in December 2014 and the very same month, he retired.
