Salman - the Star - to go behind bars
Actor Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail in the 2002 hit-and-run case.
The actor was convicted by the sessions court in Mumbai on Wednesday morning after being found guilty in the case. He was being tried under the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Salman will be taken into custody and taken to Arthur Road jail. He is likely to move the Bombay high court against the verdict.
Earlier, the judge rejected Salman’s claim that his driver was driving the car when the unfortunate incident took place.
One person was killed and four others were injured in the accident which occurred in 2002.
Meanwhile, a huge investment of Rs 200 crore is riding on the actor and his two upcoming films are in the last stages of shooting.
