Adilabad recorded a maximum temperature of 42.3 degree Celsius on Thursday, making it the hottest day of summer so far. The maximum day temperature, which crossed the 40 degree Celsius mark on Tuesday, is steadily climbing.

Coming as they do after a spell of unseasonal rainfall in the first half of April, the hot days have become particularly intolerable. Many people prefer to stay indoors during the afternoons these days.

The steady rise in maximum day temperatures could even lead to a heat wave, according to experience in the past years. Farmers, however, have welcomed the hot days as it help in land preparation for kharif season, which is round the corner.
