Following CBSE's footsteps, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board is contemplating abolishing the Class 10 Board exams in its meeting in May.

About 10 lakh students, will be affected by the decisions of the board. However, the board stated that the changes will come into effect from 2016 only.

Earlier, the Board came with a proposal for an open book exam system in 2013, but had to withdraw the decision owing to opposition from various corners.
