The University of Montana in the US is offering its students a chance to learn Hindi language in the next academic year.
Gaurav Mishra, a Fulbright scholar, has been appointed to teach the subject under the University of Montana's South & Southeast Asian Studies programme during the academic year 2015-16. The course will commence from mid- August.
The university will also put in efforts to make Hindi as a regular academic subject.
"This is a rare honour and a big achievement because only four universities in the nation have been allotted Hindi instructors," UM liberal studies Professor Ruth Vanita said.
