About 65 students from Telangana have been given permission by the Karnataka High Court to appear in the under-graduate professional course entrance test scheduled for May 10.

The High Court on Tuesday asked the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges to allow the students write the test. A vacation division bench comprising Justice Anand Byrareddy and Justice G Narendar gave the verdict on the petitions filed by Mohammed A Rab and others, students of Sri Chaitanya Junior Kalasala, a residential school in Ranga Reddy district.

The COMEDK had, earlier rejected their applications saying that the students had sent it through a private courier instead of speed post as per the rules. It also argued that, it would be difficult to accommodate the students as all preparation, including printing of OMR sheets, have been completed.
