Nandyal MP and YSR Congress leader SPY Reddy todat took the TDP leaders by surprise with his sudden appearance at Mahanadu's venue at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad. His presence amid the yellow brigade gave room for speculation that SPY Reddy is favourably inclined to join the TDP and is only waiting for a proper time. Reddy was found occupying the front row surrounded by TDP workers.

As the three-day event concluded on Friday, it is now confirmed that Junior NTR had skipped this year's Mahanadu. Though his absence was felt by a section of partymen, majority of them could not – for reasons best known to them – openly discuss the matter. TDP MLA and popular leader of the Backward Classes R Krishnaiah too was not to be seen and his absence was conspicuous at the annual event.
