Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Wednesday directed district collectors to make all arrangements for the celebrations of Telangana State Formation Day from June 2 to 7 in all districts. He asked them to work in collaboration with district in-charge ministers.

Addressing the district collectors through video conference, the Chief Secretary said that the celebrations should begin at 9 am in all the district headquarters with hoisting of the national flag. In Hyderabad, arrangements were being made for holding the event at Parade Grounds from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

He wanted all important landmarks in the city including Raj Bhavan, Necklace Road, Hussain Sagar, Lumbini Park, Metro Rail pillars, traffic signals and government offices to be suitably decorated with electric lamps and the State Formation Day logo displayed prominently at all the shops and establishments.

All government, local bodies, corporation, municipalities and gram panchayats should hoist the tricolor. The cultural programmes should reflect the culture and traditions of Telangana. Instead of June 1 midnight, blasting of crackers will take place at 8 pm on June 2 at the People’s Plaza on the Necklace Road, he said. The State formation logos that are dispatched to districts should be liberally used.

Besides felicitation of people from various walks of life, a list of persons eligible to derive benefit under government schemes should be prepared. Telangana Samskrutika Saradhi artistes would give performances in districts on June 2 and they should be sent back to Hyderabad to enable them to take part in the valedictory celebrations to be held at Tank Bund on June 7, he said.
