Bhadrakali Lake renovation begins

State Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday inaugurated renovation works of Bhadrakali Lake in Warangal. He said that Warangal was on top position in implementation of Mission Kakatiya scheme in the State and asked officials to continue the good work. The renovation works are being carried out at a budget of Rs 4.5 crore.

Harish Rao announced that the other tanks, which are the drinking water sources in the city, like Waddepally and Padmakshi Lake would also be renovated soon. “People will benefit from the renovation works of these lakes. Once the silt is removed, the underground water level too will increase. The drainage water should be redirected and soon beautification works of these lakes will also begin. Mini tank bunds will be built along the banks of these lakes,” he said.

Warangal MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar thanked Harish Rao for providing funds for the renovation of Bhadrakali Lake and requested him to release Rs 100 crore fund for the development of Warangal Municipal Corporation. So far, funds worth Rs 405 crore have been released for 1,054 tanks in the district. 80,82,000 cubic meters of silt in 33,67,700 tractors were used by farmers for their crops.
