Pay penalty for dumping debris on Metro rail route

Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Tuesday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to impose penalty on property owners for dumping debris on the central median below the Metro Rail viaduct. The Chief Secretary, who conducted the special task force meeting on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of Hyderabad Metro Rail project, took serious view of dumping of debris by property owners at some places. He instructed L&TMetro Rail Hyderabad Limited as well as GHMC additional commissioner to be more vigilant and impose penalties on those who are dumping debris.

He also informed that with good progress in acquisition of the affected properties, the balance 132 properties remaining should be acquired for facilitating free flow of traffic on Metro corridors in critical stretches. The Chief Secretary directed the GHMC commissioner, Collectors of Hyderabad and Rangareddy and HMRManaging Director to expedite the acquisition process and rigorously pursue court cases with the help of the advocate general.

Making a detailed presentation on the action taken report of the decisions of the previous STF meeting, HMR MD N V S Reddy informed about the progress on acquisition of private and GVM properties. Rajeev Sharma desired that wherever the private or government lands were being acquired, they should be immediately barricaded and utilised for starting Metro construction activity in those areas. He said that there should not be any slackness in this regard on the part of L&TMRHL. He also advised them to shift the electrical poles etc, in the widened portions and improve the carriage way for smooth flow of traffic.
