TSRTC SC, ST staff to keep away from unions
TSRTC SC, ST Employees' Welfare Association here on Sunday announced that its members would not support any union in the elections scheduled to be held on July 19.
Speaking to media persons, Association general secretary B Padma Rao, convenor P Subhash, working presidents Danunjay Naik, Dubbaka Yadaiah, State leaders B D Rao, Chandulal and others alleged that the rival TSRTC employees’ unions were only concentrating on winning in the ensuing elections and were not bothered about getting the arrears paid to the employees.
“Therefore, we have decided not to support any union in the elections,” they said and made it clear that the association was not affiliated to any union. They were only fighting for their legitimate rights as enshrined in the Constitution, they said.
The TSRTC SC, ST Employees’ Welfare Association also made it clear that it was not against any union and was only fighting for the employees’ welfare. Pointing out that some 20,000 SC, ST employees were discharging duties in the corporation, the Association leaders said they would fight for filling up of backlog posts and for a solution to their long-pending issues.
