The National Thermal Power Corporation, Ramagundam is all set to reach its target for power generation by the end of the financial year, thus achieving a new feat.

The Maharatna company was given a target to produce 20,201 million units of power. NTPC succeeded in generating 18,361 million units by the end of February and is sure to achieve the target on time. NTPC put tremendous efforts in overcoming hurdles such as severe shortage of coal supply from the nearby Singareni Collieries during the start of the financial year.  With severe heat wave and weak monsoon, the supply could not continue, but it eventually picked up from the month of October.

In the last two months, the power generation reached its high point with all the six power generating units working round the clock to meet the demand. The state government too made efforts in directing the Singareni to supply sufficient coal to NTPC.

The Ramagundam branch would get a share 1600 MWs power generation out of the 4,000 MWs as part of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill. However, the proposal to start a new power generating unit has got delayed due to non-allotment of land by the government.
