CM discusses changes to GO 123
Addressing the lacunae being pointed out by the division bench of the High Court on the GO No 123, being issued for land acquisition for projects, the government has decided to submit required amendments to the HC so that court could allow the implementation of the GO. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao held a meeting with the chief secretary and advocate general and discussed the amendments to be proposed. The advocate general would submit the changes to the GO to the High Court.
It may be recalled here that the single judge bench of High Court has struck down the GO 123 as it did provide any safeguards to the labour, tenant farmers and artisans of the villages which would be acquired for construction of the projects. The government went for an appeal to a division bench and the bench adjourned the hearing to Monday. The bench asked the government to come up with safeguards to the labour, tenant farmers and artisans. State government had issued GO No 123 to facilitate land acquisition for various road, irrigation and other projects. It started acquiring the land under the GO in few villages.
