The setting up of SHE teams in Karimnagar district has brought smiles on the faces of girls and women as they are able to move freely on the roads. Superintendent of Police Sivakumar launched the SHE teams, similar to the ones in Hyderabad, on March 31. The SHE teams are mingling with the people in public places such as railway stations, bus stations, cinema theatres and shopping malls in a bid to prevent eve-teasing and booking cases under the Nirbhaya Act against the eve teasers.

At the same time, the police officials are making efforts to create awareness among girls and women on the steps to be taken when they encounter eve teasers. The SHE teams are maintaining surveillance in new places also and capturing the activities of eve teasers in cameras. At present, one SHE team is deployed in in each division to protect women from anti-social elements. The SP is planning to introduce M-Defence application for security of women.

For protection of women, the SHE team members mingle with the people at public places where eve-teasers usually wander and capture the images of the offenders when they trouble women. As there has been an increase in eve-teasing at tourist spots due to summer vacation, SHE teams are focusing on tourist points. Recently, the police counselled some eve teasers and registered criminal cases against two notorious offenders.

Through the M-Defence application, women facing trouble from eve teasers or kidnappers can send an alert to five members, including parents, police and friends, simultaneously.
