TN handlooms on display at YMCA

A 10-day ‘Tamil Nadu Handloom Exhibition-cum-sale 2015’ was inaugurated at the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in West Marredpally, Secunderabad on Friday.

Tamil Nadu Handlooms and Textiles Director T N Venkatesh inaugurated the exhibition while his Telangana counterpart lit the lamp. The organisers said that with a view to showcase the handloom products under one roof and to widen the market base of Tamil Nadu handlooms, exhibitions are being conducted in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

They said that special discount from 10 to 50 percent would be given on select varieties of handloom sarees and other various varieties such as silk sarees from Kancheepuram, Arani, Salem and Thirubuvanam and soft silk sarees of Coimbatore, new designs of cotton sarees from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Paramakudi, Dindigal and bed sheets, towels, blankets and home furnishings from Erode, Chennimalai and Bhavani areas.
